Williamsburg Man Receives 17.5 Years in Prison in Child Pornography Case
NEWPORT NEWS, VA—Douglas G. Grigsby, age 39, of Williamsburg, Virginia was sentenced today to 210 months in prison, followed by life on supervised release. Grigsby plead guilty to receipt of child pornography on November 13, 2008. Dana J. Boente, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Alex J. Turner, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, made the announcement after sentencing by United States District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith.
According to court documents, Grigsby used a computer to download child pornography from the Internet, through a software sharing program, LimeWire, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Grigsby had over 4,000 images of child pornography on his computer.
The case was investigated by FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as the James City County Police Department and the Peninsula Innocent Images Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa McKeel prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
