Newport News Man Indicted on child pornography charges

(Newport News, VA) - Chuck Rosenberg, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, announced that David Andrew Merritt, age 41, of Newport News has been indicted on 12 counts of Receipt of Child Pornography.

Merritt faces a minimum mandatory term of imprisonment of 15 years on each count and a maximum sentence of 40 years on each count in the Bureau of Prisons.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Special Agent Paula Barrows. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa R. McKeel will prosecute this case on behalf of the United States.
