Gloucester Man Sentenced on Child Pornography Conviction

(Norfolk, VA) – James Lester Richardson, age 66, of Gloucester, Virginia, was sentenced today to 188 months imprisonment, followed by a three year term of supervised release, on his conviction for receiving child pornography in violation of federal law. Chuck Rosenberg, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement after Richardson was sentenced by United States District Judge Henry Coke Morgan. Richardson had pled guilty to this charge on May 19, 2006.

Court documents reveal that a search conducted at Richardson’s residence by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department on August 15, 2005, yielded three computer hard drives and numerous CD’s. Forensic analysis of one hard drive and a CD revealed 351 still images of child pornography and 41 child pornography videos. Agents later obtained, from Richardson’s Internet Service Provider, images of child pornography embedded in e-mails sent to Richardson. During the search, Richardson admitted to law enforcement agents that he had used his computer to send and receive child pornography.

The investigation was conducted by Sergeant D. Scott Little of the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department and Special Agent Paul Gray of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Moore prosecuted the case for the United States.
